Kaal Sarp Yantra should be installed and worshipped in a situation when a Kaal Sarp Dosha is present in a person's horoscope. There are 12 types of Kaal Sarp Dosha depending upon the situation of Rahu and Ketu in various houses of the horoscope. A Kaal Sarp Yoga is known as a PURNA KAAL SARP YOGA in a case when all the seven planets are between Rahu and Ketu. However if one of the planets escapes out of this Rahu Ketu Axis or is present in this Axis itself then it is called as a PARTIAL KAAL SARP YOGA. A Purna Kaal Sarp Yoga is more threatening and harmful in comparison to a Partial Kaal Sarp Yoga.
