Information about Online Holi Katha & Yagna

Holi is the Festival of Colors and Happiness. It is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm on the last full moon day of Phalgun month which usually falls in March. This year, Holi Katha & Pooja will be performed on Sunday, 24th of March 2024 (on Holika Dahan).

There is a symbolic legend behind celebration of Holi. The word "Holi" originates from "Holika", the evil sister of demon king Hiranyakashyap. King Hiranyakashyap had earned a boon that made him virtually indestructible. The special powers blinded him, he grew Arrogant and felt himself as he was God and demanded that everyone worshipped only him. Hiranyakashyap's son Prahlad was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and disagreed with his father. Hiranyakashyap didn't like this and he punished Prahlad very viciously, none of which affected the boy or his resolution to do what he thought was right. Finally, Hiranyakashyap asked his sister Holika to sit in fire with Prahlad as she had a boon that fire won't burn her. Prahlad sat on Holika's lap chanting Lord Vishnu's name and therefore, instead of Prahlad, Holika burned & Prahlad survived. The bonfire is a reminder of symbolic Victory of Good over Evil, Victory of Prahlad over Hiranyakashyap and of fire that burned Holika.

It is believed that worshipping Lord Narsimha who is the 4th incarnation ( Avatar ) of Lord Vishnu on the day of Holi protects the worshipper from all kind of misfortunes and evil Energies in a similar way as Lord Narsimha protected his Devotee Prahlad from Hiranyakashyap.

Benefits of Donating the Prasadam :

  • No hassles of duty / taxes being levied at the recipient's end.
  • If you opt for not receiving the prasadam, we will provide you a video recording of around 15-20 minutes instead of regular 12-13 minutes video without any extra charges to you. This video will have images of each item of Prasadam, so that you can pray in front of them, which will ensure that you get the same benefits that you would have got by physically receiving the prasadam.
  • Thereafter, the prasadam will be given to the Brahmin, who have taken Sankalp on your part, so that the prasadam is virtually delivered to you.
